Caltrops - Rants

I have had many unsolicited verbal reviews and my take has usually been well, it's fine that an outsider doesn't like the place, but the Carebear hellholes that most people venture to are filled with unfunny and uncreative writers huddled around a shaming groupthink waiting to be offended. Half of the original contributors are gone. It's at the point where even the people that drove off some of the original posters are gone themselves - INC isn't around but neither is Bill Dungsroman, Jsoh is gone but so is everyone that hated him. There's multiple levels of spectral grudges. People drop out of forums all the time. I always felt it was usually due to moderation. I can handle talking shit with a regular poster on some web site. If a moderator starts with me, I will retort and never return. I know that isn't happening here and that people can just simply no longer be interested in making posts. All of that is fine. But my question is - what are we all doing here? Does anyone get any enjoyment out of this? Or: does anyone get any enjoyment out of this besides riling people up? I'm not looking for a navel-gazing thread and I am not going to delete the forum. I would expect that after passions quiet through social media we'll see a host of sites spring up that make it a point to review games fairly, and there's no reason that this site can't be one of them. But if this place does nothing but bring anxiety, loathing and depression into the lives of people then I'll adjust my expectations accordingly. the dark and gritty...Ice Cream Jonsey![/quote]
