Both the cartoon and live-action Tick shows used different Batman analogues.
Is Eli's death as bad, less bad? Isn't that as much unnecessary motivation and cheap sympathy?
Eli's death didn't bother me as much because there were all sorts of male characters in that game, and some of them even had agency within the story - or at least the appearance of agency, if the whole thing wasn't some cosmic puppetshow being orchestrated by the cigarette lizard man (the gameplay could support either interpretation equally poorly) - Gordon Freeman, for example. I think if you were to pull a frog DNA on Half-Life 2 and reverse all the sexes, Eli's death as a reverse-man wouldn't even matter, it would still be the most SJW-approved game in the history of all time (if it isn't already - SJWs tend to have fairly awful taste in games). Somehow I feel like you understood this perfectly though and I just fell all over myself explaining the most obvious shit to someone as if either they were a child or I were logged in as TDARCOS. I honestly don't see a problem with sending the message to developers that if they're going to make us sit through their non-interactive story sequences while we wait for the blood textures to finish streaming off the DVD or whatever, the least they could do is try to make the scenery a little less depressing along the tram ride. I'm sure there are all sorts of people out there who get a kick out of seeing the artlessly horrible (as opposed to the artfully horrible, like Saturn eating his sons or the less popular but equally grotesque Saturn double dipping a chip), but they're not me, so why should I factor their stupid, stupid preferences into my response to the story any more than I should into my response to the save system? <img src="http://i.imgur.com/SwNCJKq.jpg"> The Tick video game was one of the worst I've ever owned, BTW, despite having a bat-type man in it. I don't remember what the story was or if it had a story beyond "there are two types of enemies and two dozen levels, have fun lol."
