Five Nights at Freddy's
::
I am playing it based on your recommendation.
The best part about Fatal Frame was that, when it came time to do battle with a ghost, it put you in a first person mode where you were in 360 degrees of FUCK FUCK FUCK WHERE IS THE GHOST??? Five Nights at Freddy's is that part of Fatal Frame... if it never let up. You're always in that mode! Where is the ghost!? Murderous ghosts are coming for you at all times! I must admit, that, rather than play it for more than 5 minutes, I played for 5 minutes, went NOPE NOPE NOPE and then starting watching YouTube videos to see how to save myself. People are very drawn to recording themselves playing it; it's this FNAF Metagame. This guy with a hilariously out-of-place radio announcer voice is very entertaining to watch as he loses his shit while trying to keep his stage face on. Another favorite is this dude who apparently recorded his girlfriend playing it so he could watch it while jerking off. It's really great. Very simple, very shallow, but it just hits you on SO MANY scare vectors at the same time*, it's like 100 proof scare scotch. *Garbled transmissions, scary clowns/animatronic performers, body horror, isolation, jump scares, being surrounded, the list goes on. I think the most amazing, inspired thing though is the fox and the suspense he creates.
