Yeah that's what I said
[quote name="jeep"]I have the sourcebook. Every time there's a new version of the game all that is excised and they go back to only explicit spirit worship working, and then later on some splatbook gets written by a lazy contractor with people summoning saints or w/e. This game is written by that lazy contractor I guess. For this specific story though it makes no difference because it's still terrible writing: we're talking about a campaign set in a city that was overrun by left anarchists on an alternate earth where no one on the planet has been to church for 50 years, so having the priest of another religion's language peppered with christian exclamations is just shit writing. I'm not even going to lay out the stupid sideplot where they find a way to jam a chick tract in there. One of the weird/awesome things about tabletop rpgs is that they can easily pick a very different metaphysics and then build a society and player experience around it, it's much harder to do that in other media and still keep all the visual and language shortcuts that relate to our present society. Anyway I just finished it and it's shorter than the core game, there's less exp so you can really only master one skill, there aren't any hermetic mages to hire on runs, the stuff they were saying about this one being more "open" is horseshit because who cares if you can do the sidequests in any order when there's only like 4 of them, and the christian shit sprinkled on top of the standard ridiculous shadowrun backstabby plot becomes a caricature of itself by the end.
