On ego
People who have never developed any substantial team project don't appreciate what goes into it, and when you pair that with an icycalm ego, the results are comical if not embarrassing. Saying Icycalm has a crippling ego is boring of course, but this is a great lesson for less crazy people reading his craziness to learn something. Icycalm is exhibiting something that probably has a better name to people who study behavioral disorders, but I call it "assumption of uniqueness thanks to ego", and I hope to learn the better name for this symptom of narcissism one day. It's the belief that being so much smarter than everyone else, your thoughts are utterly unique. This gets reinforced because the people with normal egos don't go around saying these crazy thoughts, so the egotist continues to believe they're the only one coming up with these incredible ideas. Then they explain the idea is so complex it can only be rendered via custom coding for four high end video cards, showcasing how little they understand about game engines, development, and computer graphics, all in one sentence. So what can less crazy people take away from this? It's a reminder about how silly you look when you think you're the only one to come up with a big idea. Like your friend who always has a new million dollar app idea and gets annoyed when you don't start coding it right away. The brilliant and successful people don't come up with big crazy ideas that are impossible to implement, that's the easy part, that's what a child does, the boundless imagination, big deal. The brilliant successful people <i>implement</i> ideas.
