You didn't read it at all, or you would have read that he said that "Linux is only free if your time has no value." Also, the article, written in 2000, 12 years ago, is him speaking about his SGI O2 machine, which then, cost as much as a Porsche. I don't know about you, but unless you're doing extremely valuable work, few places will hire someone to work on a machine that then, cost probably about $40,000 and now still sells for about $700. (The only ones available on eBay now are sold by resellers in the United Kingdom and the price is quoted in U.K. Pounds at about 600, which is probably about USD 700.) I'm sure I could do quite a lot of amazing work if I had a computer optimized for the desktop that was an IBM zSystem mainframe that costs $70,000. [/quote]
