Re: Here is why it should stay Redskins forever

he is wrong
How is he wrong?
he doesn't really understand anything
What doesn't he understand? Spell it out for me like I'm nine years old.
It's important we live in a society where garbage like this comes to the realization that they are powerless, that their snotty social justice platform is pointless and that they can't change anything.
I know you harbor a lot of hate inside you for SJWs. To be honest, I've never understood why people hate SJWs so much. While it's a fact that you can't reason with unreasonable people and SJWs are the very definition of unreasonable, the SJW demographic doesn't exactly scream legitimacy: 1. They're mostly women 2. They're mostly teenagers (if not chronologically, then mentally and emotionally) 3. They're either too stupid to figure out how truly effective activism works, or too lazy to do the necessary work. To me, that's not criteria for hate. That's criteria for amused contempt. For example: there was a post on Jezebel about Sarah Silverman talking about how everyone at the James Franco roast cracked on her for her age, and how she realized afterwards that it was only because she's a woman that those jokes landed the way they did. Because Sarah Silverman is a comedian and understands how comedy works, she wasn't saying they shouldn't have made the jokes, or that the jokes weren't funny, or that no one should tell jokes about a woman's age. She was simply talking about a personal observation and how it added clarity in understanding how she interacts with the world around her. Jezebel, of course, flipped out. There were comments about how she got what she deserved because she told racist jokes, comments calling for the end of all roasts, comments calling for the end of all jokes that hurt people's feelings, comments calling for no more age jokes about women, comments that wanted no more age jokes whatsoever, comments saying that no comedy has been funny since 1969 -- just an endless echo chamber of horrible people guilty of the same rigidity and lack of vision that they decry in others. But I couldn't get mad at these people. I couldn't hate them. Because they have that human need for community, they'll always seek each other out. And because they're either stupid or lazy (see above), they'll spend all of their time in their echo chambers sucking each other off and raving about the taste. And because of that, they'll never affect anything of consequence. I think that you're lowering yourself when you hate these people, SoP. You're presuming that they're worthy of the attention required for you to hate them. They're not fire ants. They're not mosquitos. They're idiots on the internet who lack the willpower, the humility, and the disposition to tear themselves away from the keyboard long enough to walk up to someone who has made an actual difference in the world and say "How can I help?"
Some Indians are fine with the term Redskins. This is enormously "problematic" for SJWs. They don't have any real problems like poverty, alcoholism or disease, so of course the name of a football mascot is the biggest thing in their pathetic lives.
Come on, man. First of all, addressing this doesn't preclude addressing poverty, alcoholism, disease, or unemployment simultaneously. Second of all, one of these issues requires large scale government intervention to the tune of $200-$300 billion dollars, decades of infrastructure building, creation of an entirely new educational system, and easily a century or more of improvement, while the other requires a few major media outlets to do a find and replace in their scripts. Yeah, it's no question which one will have the bigger impact and improve more lives, but you fight battles that are winnable when they're winnable.
