Enforcing the law is the end in and of itself for him. Meanwhile, when they realize they're trapped in a live-or-die situation, have just shot several people in the face, and the rookie suggests that the suspect they're towing might be a liability, Dredd responds, "He's a prime suspect in a murder investigation. You want to <I>let him go?"</I> I'm probably reading way more out of this movie than was intended but I love this whole idea of Dredd as the most perfectly working cog in a dysfunctional machine.[/quote]
