I am so glad a game like this got made
How much of a pile of crap would it have been if it had taken dark and gritty, more realistic turn? Every other developer on the planet needs to study the intro/tutorial levels of SR4 (and 3). Rather than having you sit through agonizingly boring cutscenes establshing a DEEP and MEANINGFUL plot and plodding you through tedious gameplay tutorials with the weakest weapons so as not to overstimulate you, in the first hour of Saint's Row 4 you: 1) Watch a completely ridiculous one-man takedown of like 20 terrorists 2) Have an assault rifle shootout complete with ragdolls and exploding barrels 3) Ride on a nuclear warhead while Aerosmith plays in the background 4) Become the President 5) Cure cancer or end world hunger 6) Fight off an alien invasion in the White House with access to 4 additional weapons, and end in a surface-to-air assault cannon shootout with alien spaceships 7) Go on a rocket launcher rampage in a hilarious Leave it to Beaver parody world And then I guess you get super powers. I haven't gotten far into it, not even to the super power stuff yet, because I've been driving around finding clothing stores to create the sluttiest outfit. The only thing I don't like so far is the Matrix world is too dark and drab. Yeah, it's like that for thematic reasons, but still. Also, if you're playing on the PC don't bother trying borderless window mode. At least for me, it cut the framerate by half or more. When I switched to fullscreen I could max out pretty much every graphics option.
