Castle Storm
Not worth it. It's a slightly upgraded version of those Age of War flash games (even has the same music). Angry Birds at least has some amount of strategy in the later levels. This is just pure stupid "spam your strong attacks til you win". -90% of the time, I won by getting 5 quick kills in a row (incredibly easy) and then spamming my 3-way rock shot during the 5 second rage boost it gives you for kill streaks. At no point did I ever lose more than 2 rooms in my castle. -The draw of "building your own castle" is bullshit. There's a million different combinations, yes, but it really doesn't matter for single player. Just make a big wall on the one side and do whatever you want on the left since even on hard the computer won't be able to bring it down in time. The builder UI is a fucking mess. They didn't even attempt to make it PC friendly. This goes double for the actual battles. -At one point towards the end, my game glitched and gave me infinite money. Apparently it's a regular thing since most your online battles (which i guess would be the main appeal for most people) are gonna be against people with max level towers. I was actually fine with this, since the final battles on Hard throw out level 20 enemies that are actually impossible to kill without fully upgraded weapons and units (you can only upgrade to level 10). The only difference between Easy, Normal, and Hard is that the little numbers above enemies' heads go up a few ticks. -Sometimes, it'll throw in an extra little challenge like "Win without using your ballista" or "Win in 3 minutes", but all you get is an extra star. No extra cash, upgrades, or secrets and the stars don't do anything except let you feel accomplished. -Arrow to the knee jokes. -It feels like there's really no point in making army dudes since the computer will prioritize them over bringing down your castle, meaning even if you just send out a bunch of meat fodder to slow down some knights, they'll get one-shotted by a cannonball. Spamming ranged is pretty much the only useful strategy on Hard. Even your ballista ammo that's specifically made to bring down enemies is less effective than your anti-castle shots, so why would you ever choose the little dinky peashooters over bombs and boulders? -The final level is just 10 waves of strong enemies. Afterwards, during the ending comic panels, you're shown that IMMEDIATELY AFTER killing the bad guy and breaking his crystals, the ground splits open and your hero dies fighting a giant demon. WHY WASN'T THE DEMON THE LAST BOSS?
