How bad are we talking? Oh well, I'll throw some in.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Playing this game at the time with full dynamic lighting effects on was terrifying. When things got dark, they didn't just get dark like an overcast afternoon or evening (which was all most games at the time did), it got fucking DARK, and you ran your ass to the nearest campsite and huddled close with the other STALKERS and waited for morning. A really incredible moment was when I walked up to the first unskippable checkpoint (when you cross from the outer zone to the area south of the Junkyard). I had gotten there at night and a storm was starting. Three bandits were holding up a Stalker while this storm was raging, and the only time I got to see them was when the lightning lit up their bodies. The game eventually got fun, but the unforgiving combat where you were quicksaving every 30 seconds made the first half of the game mostly a quicksave and shotgun fest. EVE Online - Terribly boring MMO. Amazing art design. The ships, the skyboxes, planets, station aesthetic, all of it. They're so OCD that they replaced the jettisoned canisters that used to mark destroyed ships with actual shipwrecks. Flying through the remains of a battle between capital ships can be pretty amazing. And the best part is that unlike other MMO's they've actually redone their engine twice and retextured all the ships, or added new turret designs to replace the old blocky ones. A shame everyone always plays it zoomed out or alt-tabbed though.
