FarCry 3

Far Cry 3 sounds terrible. You remember what I thought of Far Cry 2, right?

How does a save station preserve more balance than letting me save whenever I want? If I want to stop playing under a save station, I have to trek back to some place I have already been (I guess that "I also like to live dangerously" Austin Powers meme would be appropriate for running towards a save station you haven't been to yet) and for games that have respawning enemies, that means that there is an ammo cost to saving. I don't think that's very balanced.
Because saving is a game mechanic like any other, and an incredibly powerful one at that? Attaching an ammo cost (or whatever kind of cost) to saving is one way to balance all that power. Having limited ammo in a game with unlimited saving is fucking retarded, because now the optimal strategy is to save before every shot and reload if it misses. Sure, you could always choose not to exploit a mechanic you perceive as overpowered, but that means you're stuck balancing the game for yourself - which probably sounds great to a guy who makes his own games, but it's not really my idea of fun. At the time I sit down to play a game, I have unlimited power. I can literally do whatever the fuck I want. If I want to see a dwarf's head explode, all I have to do is imagine it! Butterfly in the sky, motherfucker! But by pressing that start button, I'm saying to the game "alright, let's see you place some interesting limitations on my power." I don't play games for the facial animations and the texture maps and the many, many different kinds of doors they simulate; I play them for the rules. If a game expects me to make my own rules, what the fuck am I paying for? I might as well go write some Far Cry fan fiction and never have to worry again about when and where I can save my "work".
