Remember this thread? I'm baffled again.
As I now visit 10 torrent sites on a regular basis, what with our life-giving MothrNova gone, I see all kinds of crazy rules. Check this one out:
ALSO,enough is ENOUGH.We are tired of hit n runners. We try to be fair to everyone, let everyone leech and just wait to do their parts. So it really makes us sad to see NEW torrents, less than 24h alive got 70 snatches and just 14-15 ppl seeding. So we had to increase to waiting periods,in order to stop this phenomenon. It's still not too high, but hopefully it will"filter"somehow the bad users and will give to the rest a better d/l speed.Sorry guys, but when ppl don't play by the rules those things happen...If we see that situation imporves,we may drop waiting periods again. But until then, this won't change
So instead of 70 snatches and 14 peers (worst thing ever) they would prefer 40 snatches and 30 peers? What good does that do? LESS PEOPLE HAVE THE FILE. Sure, peer #41 is going to see more seeds, but he sees LESS PEERS you stupid fucks. LESS PEERS means SLOWER. Seeds are not the be-all end-all. Peers make speed! I'm not even touching upon distributed copies. Holy christ, am I the only one using Bit Torrent? How did I obtain such great knowledge about this protocol that all others fail to grasp? Look at that stupid logic: Filtering bad users = give the rest a better download speed. This concept of bad peers is non-existant in BitTorrent, which is what makes BT so great. Throttle your BT upload to 0 sometime and see how long a download takes. Am I wrong? Can someone argue this? Leechers are active and useful participants in the BT process. How can I properly disseminate this knowledge? I need a megaphone.
