I guess you figured nobody googles anymore.

I have to go with Fussbett on this one, and also on successfully enjoying Star Wars for more than merely nostalgic reasons. But Lucas and I have a lot in common except where finances are concerned. For starters, I have a pet theory that Star Wars is not in fact aping Hidden Fortress (to which I find it bears little resemblance) but actually Hiroshi Inagaki's Samurai trilogy. Nobody likes this pet theory. :( Except George Lucas.
About 500 websites including this one says you're wrong. To wit:
When elaborating on the issue of what elements Lucas took from his movie, Kurosawa said, "I asked [Lucas] which aspects were inspired by my film. He said that he used the first scene, where Kamatari and Chiaki were walking. There was the scene where the small robot and the gold one were walking and fighting. It was very similar. The last scene was also similar."
So, I guess I'm left to decide whether to believe you or Kurosawa. Tough one! Additionally, it would seem to me that, after reading several plot synopses of the Samurai Trilogy such as these, it's more similar to the new trilogy, if any. Which is fine if that's what you actually meant, except about 500 websites (many that overlap the aforementioned 500) agree with you (and most probably thought of it before you did).
