I'm halted from liking Star Trek by the structure of the setting as a whole, the ideals that shape its nations and characters, etc. If they created a means of altering them radically instead of altering the ideas of one character radically and then going right back to basics with the next series I'd be able to see it as a living franchise instead of being stuck in some previous decade, hence the framing of my interests.[/quote]
