Stretch goals <a href="http://www.caltrops.com/pointy.php?action=makePost1337&ppid=148220"e=true">posted.</a>
$105k = Localizations - Bringing the game to German, Spanish, Japanese and French audiences. $115k = Professional BG artist for galaxies $125k = Mod Support for PC/MAC
There's some usual fan cheerleading about localization, but most of them think it's a bad idea.
I'm wary of localization. It's a alot more costly than it looks like initially. Not only do you have to do it for practically everything in the game and devote time to finding odd wordings, you also have to take into account that it will impact costs of any future patches/bugfixes as well.

Localization is BS, we(I) don't want you to waste your time/money on that at all. Mod support sounds awesome tho, try to reach that by all means necessary.

STOP with this localization BS! SOOOOO many gaming companies have said it's a money pit that leads to NOWHERE! Please take that off the list.
What sort of bone-headed decision do you have to make for your kickstarter backers to tell you to get rid of stretch goals?
Mod support would be great while localization is a huge money/efforts sink. And Japanese? Really?
They don't bother to respond to those comments, but they answer this question.
I concur with what most folks are saying about localization. Modding to me is much higher on the list of priorities. Although.. Localization will increase the amount of copies sold worldwide which in turn will hlep you guys improve game functions.. My only question is $5,000 a realistic budget to hire a translator? : )

Basically we have a copy deck and we will make sure each language comes in at $1000 or so for the translation - then we can copy and paste - and then sit back and watch as "starship' is replaced with "dick and balls" without our knowing it.
Way to sidestep the question, jackass. Joking about doing a shitty job by underfunding your translation doesn't excuse it. Why don't you answer his question seriously by showing the time and thought you've put into the idea of localization and that you've actually worked out the cost? Christ. Everytime these guys speak to their backers they come off like pricks. One commenter put it perfectly.
Please please PLEASE don't do the localization support! You guys will just end up back in the same boat you found yourself with the iOS version! Broke with nothing to show!
