Tropes vs Women in Video Games
Tropes vs Women in Video Games YOUR LINK I'd like to submit a couple things. The first is that no gay person has ever been called a faggot over 360 Live. If two straight guys are calling each other cocksuckers during Uno, well, those games can get heated. That being said, I don't doubt that women have terrible things said to them. Anita Sarkeesian is doing a web video series on how women are portrayed in games and TROPES. Nobody wants to hear this, but: all this work to educate gamers on how terrible women are depicted has to be done because women won't sit down and learn how to program in C++. Or Java. Or, 20 years ago, Assembly. Computer programming is hard and I am not saying that men are better at it. I am saying that not as many women want to do it. A game "designer" may think he or she has power, but nothing gets done without the programmer doing the important work. The real work. Sarkeesian would create more actual change if she took the $100,000 she has raised so far and put an 18 year old woman through a software engineering program with it at university. Cheers. Next up I will solve world hunger.
