A new Amiga book by Jimmy Maher
It appears for the Kindle on May 15th, but you can buy a physical copy now. It's called The Future Was Here and it's by Jimmy Maher. You may remember Jimmy Maher because of this website, where he is going event-by-event and year-by-year and blogging about early computer game systems. (I think he's got the best blog in the world at the moment.) Jimmy also put "The King of Shreds and Patches" onto the Kindle earlier. As for how this thread ended up, I did in fact buy Flack's Amiga 500. It is operational and on the same desk I am typing this post from. A guy on the IRC channel #arcade at irc.enterthegame.com said he had a 1084S monitor and I purchased it from him. He was then run off the channel because he was a Christian and everyone on #arcade hates organized religion. I think I am going to have to sell or trade this Amiga 500, though -- there really doesn't seem to be a way to get a flash disk working with it. There do seem to be options with Amiga 1000s and up. I'd rather have thousands of games available instead of what I have been able to physically get. (To this end, a few months ago a guy on Denver's craigslist said that he was selling a few hard copies of Amiga games -- RPGs mostly. I got into a fight with my girlfriend and I thought that the best way to show her I was my own man, psh, was to buy $50 worth of Amiga boxes and disks and then never bring the subject up. I was trying to meet the guy at 5:15PM on a weeknight, but in Denver that is pretty much impossible due to all the construction on I-25. I did get the games successfully, but now any time there is heavy traffic coming home from work I get a retro-erection.) Enjoy the book and games, everyone. ICJ
