Re: Anyone have any insights on Cable Modems vs DSL?

I'm moving into a new apartment. The coaxial jack is right next to where I want to put my desk while the phone jack would require stringing a line across the room. Is there much of a difference at all?
Who are you getting it from? Verizon's DSL sucks. I love Comcast Internet even if I think the company is damn close to the worst form of evil in existence. Further, you don't have to make this choice. Check and see if you can get a wireless router from Tenda; they're a Chinese company and they make wireless routers for about $20. Tenda also makes wireless adapters for around $10. So if you get DSL, you plug the connection for the DSL box to the wireless router, then communicate wirelessly with the router. I have the same setup with Comcast cable modem. The cable modem plugs into my Tenda wireless router, and my desktop computers have either Tenda or SMC wireless adapters, and are about 10 feet away. Everything works perfectly. Plus, my printer plugs wired into the router which assigns it an internal 192.0.0.x address, and I can print to that printer over the wireless network as if it was sitting at my desk instead of on the other side of the room.
