Re: I don't know, what do you think?

That's also why it's OK to abort babies conceived through rape, even though by their own logic they are slaying an innocent baby.
You don't actually know anything about the people you hold in such contempt, do you?
What additional background information do I need that will make that position logically consistent? I know there are hardliners that believe abortion should be illegal in all circumstances, but they are the minority.
Okay, fair enough. My contention is that what you term "hardliners" are a bigger percentage of the pro-life segment of our population than you seem to believe. Instead, the majority feel that abortion in a rape-induced pregnancy amounts to punishing the child for the actions of the father, and that the only possible exception to the no-abortion rule is a situation where the mother's life is in imminent danger (i.e. one of them is going to die either way, and somebody has to make a decision regarding which will live; an unenviable decision and one on which I think very few of even the hardest hardliners would pass judgment). Unfortunately, I have no citations for that at this time, and I'm not about to go searching for rape/abortion links at work, lunch break or no. If you have a neutral source that indicates most pro-lifers favor abortion in rape cases, I'll concede the point. If you prefer that I do the legwork myself--for the record, a completely justified position since I made the claim--I'll gladly do so after work. I would be genuinely interested in seeing any sources you may have that indicate a majority of pro-lifers favor abortion in cases of rape (as opposed to being willing to compromise and allow it if it means getting other abortions banned) (which is a whole 'nuther discussion in and of itself).
