I can't remember the last single player game that kept me hooked the whole way
Even Portal 2 had my interest peter out after a while (sometime around the end of the Cave Johnson levels). "An Apple employee slowly realizes that his boss is an egotistical asshole with a god complex while lines of fanatics eagerly gobble up high cost goods that will quickly become obsolete. Now travel to China to see the dark underbelly of it all." Only have one moderate and one minor gripe. Every single aspect of the merc leaders - from their cutscenes to the their dialog to their boss fights - seems like it was designed by a totally different team. Squaresoft perhaps? They sure do reek of their contrived horseshit. Here they kidnap your girlfriend while burning down your village and leaving you for dead. Here the villain from Avatar just walks up behind your idiot character and cold cocks him, but giving you the chance to stand up and fight. There are his buddies not even questioning a major breech in security or taking 10 seconds out of their time to kill you, choosing instead to take the Mega Man route of taking you on one by one in different levels. Now try this bullshit boss fight. Minor complaint is it's harder to play the Matrix/Superman super fast running/jumping character I loved from the original. Jumps limited to 9 feet? Not that there's that many places to jump to even if you could reach them. Upgrades required to jog for longer than 2 seconds. The email about Jensen's dog was unnecessary =( On the upside, I'm not seeing any of the awful shit from the trailer about Icarus dreams or bionic fingers breaking whiskey glasses so points for leaving that stuff out. It was way more subtle and effective to have a weight set stashed unused and forgotten in the corner of your apartment.
