Breaking Bad, The Wire, The Shield, Deadwood, Louie, Justified, It's Always Sunn
y in Philadelphia, Archer, Arrested Development. Some of these have been mentioned, I'm just seconding them. I also liked 30 Rock alright if you're looking for a half-hour sitcom. A note about Justified: I had heard it was a modern day Deadwood which catapulted my expectations in the stratosphere, so it was a bit of a letdown for me. The writing wasn't as good and the description was wrong. The show has a main storyline that follows through each episode, but each episode also has a case to solve. The former, to me, is much much better than the latter. The case-solving felt like it was following a lot of clichéd TV crime drama territory. On the other hand, if you're looking for a show where a cop shoots a bunch of people wild-west style, then you'll probably really like Justified. I'm told, and Gutsby's post seems to back up, that the 2nd season is much better than the first. I'd actually recommend getting Louie on DVD/Blu-ray. It's probably the first thing I've ever sat through all the commentary tracks for. Most of the episodes are kind of loosely based on real events in his life, so there's usually a pretty good story behind the ideas he had for each episode.
