Re: a guy made a lot of money on it and it's really not that fantastic

Video Supplement, and this is probably their only serious review.
My review of his review: 6 out of 10. It's better than the reviews that give it 10 out of 10, but that says nothing. He's bitter about . . . playing a game he hates maybe. There have to be a lot of those, surely. Or maybe he's bitter about all the hate email he's had to have received from his earlier panning of the game. I applaud honesty, but this is not very watchable. He treats the earlier complaint about reviewing a supposedly alpha game as totally without merit. That's okay! Don't do another review if you stand by your criticisms! I don't know why or how he was forced to make this review, but apparently he was. I get that he's really mad about cocoa beans, although he doesn't know what they're for (if he did he might be more annoyed), and he's really mad about NPCs that don't talk to you. I feel like I'm still hearing him say "they won't respond" for the 80th time. He's also really mad that the graphics are insulting him, although with such harsh words I was surprised it got a 2 out of 10 there. What was worse, I wonder? Combat is really boring, if you're fighting monsters on a level field at night and don't care about giant craters in your nice fields. Or dying, which he very narrowly avoided. Things this review leaves out: Building shit. Creative mode. I guess he assumes we've all seen cool builds in this game, but maybe he could show one, or show us that he attempted something other than a "nerd pole" (putting blocks under your feet, there are several other names for this) before hating the game. The exploration of giant caves (where the monsters become quite a bit more dangerous). The neat-looking and challenging underground ravines (or even the above ground ones). Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only buildings in the review are the pre-generated villages and dungeons, and he never walked into a cave, ever? Back to what's left out: Redstone anything. The mini-games that arise out of the open world, simillar to riding the flatbed trucks in GTA3 -- here I'm thinking of the XP grinder that makes me laugh every time I see it and the livestock cannon, most of which you can see on fan youtube videos. (Was a large fan community a good thing for other games, but a terrible detriment for Minecraft?) The Nether dimension. I know he'd hate it, but still. Potions or enchanting. It just seems like a ton of stuff to not even mention beyond the vague "it goes in a lot of directions without committing to anything *cry*". It also only hints at what is essentially grinding for building materials (and the creative mode designed to lessen that irritation). That would be a good complaint to include IMO. Although often getting the materials is exciting and dangerous, more often it's somewhat tedious. (Cocoa beans for brown wool goes here. BTW his complaint about sheep is pretty bizarre, a true-ish statement and a false one combined together into nonsense.) I assume his "nuff said" review of the multiplayer aspect of the game is a copy-paste from all of his other reviews, since it's totally dismissive of the entire concept. I am also mystified by the idea that Notch is greedy bastard, or greedier than the average person. Is there any justification for his claim that the money raised for Minecon just went in his pocket? Or that there's some scam to get people's money and give them a shitty product? I was dismayed by the tweet he showed in shadowy overlay. Very bad, Notch, holy shit. The bit about "shit" being equal to "fuck" is somewhat nonsensical however. Overall, I see people who can't stand the fans of the game, see primitive graphics and silly tree-punching gameplay and hate it, and then cannot fucking believe their ears when they're told this thing has sold a million+ copies. That's fine, and his recommendation is consistent with that. I don't agree.
