Re: guys I think I might have figured out what I want to do for grad school.

I have a relative who is a cleric. He spends a lot of his time visiting the imprisoned male children of his immigrant parishioners, and most of the rest making sure his homebound geriatric parishioners have access to home care and aren't starving to death. Influence on community? Imperceptible. Compensation? Negligible. Job satisfaction? He is literally a zealot who believes fervently in the existence of God and the supreme legitimacy of his specific brand of faith. Nothing in his work day or his opinion of it is commensurable with the experience or outlook of a normal person. You are wasting your time, NDD. People make a really good living and accumulate tremendous social capital working on math/chemistry for a living. Why isn't that an option for you?
<img src="http://i.imgur.com/0Tqsy.png"> Because I'm not that good at math. Chemistry isn't even on the slate. I'm grateful that you'd rather see me in a comfy job with no interpersonal stress, but every attempt I make at dispassionately-pursued technical careers leaves me feeling like an interchangeable blowhard. I would like to be a less-interchangeable blowhard.
