Now L.L. Bean is offering free shipping
I saw an ad. The outdoor equipment company - probably mostly clothing and shoes - L.L. Bean, announced in one of their TV ads that from now on, you get free shipping. No minimum purchase and this is not a limited-time offer. I guess the company looked at their order history and figured out that the difference for shipping wasn't that significant. I mean, Staples office supply stores have free shipping on orders over $50. and their competitors (Office Depot and Office Max) do the same. But it's just different to offer free shipping on all orders without regard to a minimum purchase. Time-Life Music is now doing this, probably because of the recession. But their record collections are expensive, even the 1960s collection is priced the same as more recent selections, roughly at the price of iTunes, e.g. just under a buck a song. So a collection of 12 CDs encompassing 130 songs will cost around $129 or so.
