Game picks up in Act 2
I'll take back some of my PSHing about the frantic feeling of the game, because it actually becomes that way in Act 2. All through Act 1 zombies are pretty sparse and not really that dangerous even in the meager groups they're in, but suddenly in Act 2 they do a ton of damage and can swarm you pretty easily in parts of the city. If they had released the entire act 1 as a demo I'd have never bought the game since it would have seemed easy and boring. I'm playing the black guy rapper and he can learn a special ability that allows him to curb stomp someone's head so hard it explodes. Later he can learn an ability that allows him to jump into the air and stomp someone's head so hard with both feet that it explodes. So my playstyle consists of charging into a group of zombies to knock them over, and then bunny hopping around stomping heads until blood and brains fly out and then everyone starts slipping around and cracking their heads open. I still don't think it's that great of a game, though. It's kind of an average co-op game. It runs fine and I haven't run into any gameplay issues other than the controls are kind of clunky, but there's nothing that really jumps out like OH MY GOD YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS GAME. There doesn't seem to be any real group tactics other than swarming a target and everyone beating it to death. It's kind of funny when a zombie gets knocked over and everyone's standing around it beating and kicking it to death. If you're starved for a co-op game you could do worse, but go play Resident Evil 5 or L4D2 if you haven't already.
