Re: you're missing the point. no one on this show is dumb.

also, I love that [Gus] thinks Jessie was the chink in his armour but it was actually Walt. Jessie really does have the true loyalty to his people; Walt's actions, even when they benefited Jessie, were fundamentally about himself.
You're being too charitable to Jesse and too hard on Walt. Jesse may be less of a bullshitter than Walt, but he's just as much a force of self-destruction. Badger, Skinny Pete, and Combo are just as poorly served being friends with Jesse as Walt's friends and family. (Badger abandoned in the desert after Jesse used up all his Sudofed, Combo sent to deal in hostile territory, Skinny Pete and Badger pushed off the wagon to entertain Jesse, etc.) Jesse was the direct cause of Jane's relapse. When Walt had the perfect working relationship with Gus, Jesse started skimming meth, even though at that point Jesse was already a millionaire and whatever money he would have made off the 12-step group would have been chump change in comparison. AND he was that way long before he hooked up with Walter (the story about creating the perfect lacquer box for shop class, only to trade it for an ounce of weed). One could say the "chemical reaction" of the show is these two volatile personalities coming together and feeding off each other. Alone, Walt would have died penniless and miserable and Jesse would have ended up in jail or dead from an OD in a crackhouse. Together, they create absolute mayhem.
