Re: sure, there's social stigma. there's social stigma around most bad jobs.

prostitution is a terrible job! almost as bad as fry cook.
"why am I doing this to the body my parents gave me?"
at the end of which I hear, "instead of doing something that would make them proud," not "because sex and sex work are inherently filthy." let's face it I have Japanese relatives but I'm not Japanese (and I can't really ask them about this at Christmas dinner). so I don't know. I just don't think it's how it seems to us on the surface.
Yeah, I agree, I'm on a misinterpretation roll these last couple nights. I think I probably should have phrased it, "These girls are deeply unhappy, possibly because of prostitution, possibly something else, and they seek to fill that void by hyper-stimulating themselves with the Hosts. I guess this movie is burning me both ways, being someone who helps people deal with their unhappiness for a stiff fee myself. I've been doing a lot of volunteer work as a mediator and I'm beginning to seriously consider dropping the lawyer gig and becoming a full-time mediator. Not all cases are appropriate for mediation, but IMO, when they are mediation is the superior service. Especially Divorces with children. But shiiiiit. Mediators do not have the social status of lawyers and the general public only has the faintest idea what mediation really is, can it put food on the table?
