2fort has simple needs
Before TF2 came out, Robin Walker talked about dynamically reconfigurable maps that adjust to the game. That sentence made me very excited until I realized he meant adjust to game score and time but not number of players. The premiere example is, of course, tc_hydro and we all know how that worked out. Getting back to what Robin ought to have meant: 2fort is too small a map for 32 players and probably too small for 24. If we can't have rubber maps, an across-the-board offense buff is probably what's needed.
broadens out the middle of the playing field,
Good.
adds ramps for heavier classes to get on top of the bridges,
Sure why not.
and allows access to the roof of the two bases for an added sniper deck.
Sounds like a boon for defense. Haven't played any of these. One had a chute from the spiral to the sewer (for escaping flag carriers). YEESH. If I were fixing 2fort, I'd keep it very simple.

Arch the bridge so that the middle is level with the fortress doors. Widen it so that the refrigerator projectiles have an opportunity to miss.
flip the grate -- opening by the upstairs door, solid part nearer the lower doors.
mini-ammo in the sink
mini-health at top of straight
spiral hallway 1.5x width
nerf the intel resupply
