this is very, very good

Are you familiar with baumkuchen? How about shit? I am a little biased here because I hated SA from day one, when they opened the doors with a spectacular missing-the-point review of Final Fantasy 8. Yeah ha ha they made some funny jokes and the internet would have been a less interesting place without some of the pranks, gabber music, and flash videos that came out of SA, but on the whole it was facile and pointless sarcasm directed at targets that its users would go off and enjoy secretly later anyway. Like the Creexes with furry porn. Also like the Creexes, eventually they stopped hiding their gallon jugs of ranch dressing and Lucky Star body pillows. But to answer your question. The SA forums are like a baumkuchen made out of shit: layer after layer of burnt poops tolerated because its audience knew the people painting it on and/or because those people had painted on previous layers. It has been encrusting on the spit for so long that its makers now officially think it is a tree and worry themselves about its growth. It has all of the deficits of Q23 and many of the drawbacks of 4chan without any of the benefits of either. Its moderators exist for purpose of ensuring that shit and only shit gets appended to the ongoing shitlog. It cannot be salvaged; its one saving grace is that it keeps its participants from posting in too many other places. As it sloughs and shambles to its horrible end one perceives in it a sort of forum heat death: unfocused posting, swathes of banal content, advertising on everything, kneejerk rejection of outside influence, a culture that prizes being the kind of person who has found nothing better to do since 2001. I can't even type in the URL without feeling like I should fetch some cheetos n' ranch and a dave matthews band album.
thanks
