Re: You're full of shit.

If law school tuition is anywhere near as expensive in NZ as it is in the US, then a hearty FUCK YOU on behalf of your father for not knuckling down that one last fucking year and getting the goddamn degree.
Law is a 4 year degree in NZ and our government pays you to study. Another difference: there's no such thing as personal injury torts in NZ. Consequently, torts was my best subject! Instead of personal injury torts, we have the Accident Compensation Corporation. It's a world first.
And if oooooh, you didn't want to go to law school and it was your father's idea and boo-hoo, then you should have had the balls to say, "put down the pen and tear up the check, dad, because I don't want to go to law school and that's final!"
My Dad only believes in professional qualifications. He was upset I flunked out of law, but before that I'd flunked out of engineering so it's not like he didn't see it coming. He was upset I studied economics. My current employer's paying me to do a Masters in Applied Linguistics so my degrees just keep getting faggier! I agreed because it's an extra 6 weeks leave/year. Dad still thinks I'll eventually become a banker, so I think the idea of committing to this masters will piss him off deep down (I haven't told him yet), but I can justify it on the grounds that it's an extra 6 weeks leave per year. Who's gonna turn that down?
