Re: little nemo is kinda shitty now

I beat it years ago but it still took me a million tries, and I only beat it after I had given up on it and gotten a snes, but didn't have any news games to bother with so it's kinda sad it does have a really good atmosphere and some nice gameplay mechanics like taking over the animals and gaining their powers, but then there's a billion instakill death pits that every enemy will knock you into AND you have only 3 health AND!!!!!!!!!! you have to hunt down a billion fucking gay ass keys just to open the door at the end I also beat cv3 recently (2 or 3 years ago) using an emulator and saved states, I made sure to master the art of grant's wall climbing as soon as he joined me, so that was awesome, I especially love the area where you have to avoid the dripping acid while it melts away blocks so you can reach a secret door
I remember we rented Castlevania 3 multiple times, and even though I didn't like the difficulty, I couldn't stop playing the game because I couldn't stop getting Grant and fucking with the game mechanic of having him climb every wall. I mastered that shit as much as I could, climbing was hard, especially getting him to climb around corners, but eventually I had him going under maps and shit. In the acid cave part or places where blocks dropped from the sky I would fuck around having Grant climb around them as they fell. Little Nemo was one of the few NES games we ever owned, me and Jso got into a huge fight in Toys R Us because he wanted Little Nemo and I wanted Startropics and moom could only buy one. We both actually wanted both games, we were actually really anticipating it because the Nintendo Power articles looked awesome and we'd stare at the maps pretending to play it, like I later did with HL2 and L4D videos watching them and pretending to play them. Especially that train level, and the idea of feeding animals candy and controlling them sounded cool (and it did end up being cool and we did like the game). The thing was, we already played Startropics and I was halfway addicted to the whole jumping on tiles and hopping around, and tiles occasionally becoming switches and shit. I actually never played the Zelda games, I only watched Mayzin play them because he had Zelda 1, and I wanted our very own game that used a battery save. So I ended up crying or something, and eventually we had to just pick one, so we got Little Nemo. It took us a year to finish it and we both liked it. Eventually when I got an emulator many years later I did finish Startropics. When the SNES came out we never really had any difficulty picking games, there were a bunch of great ones, but somehow moom actually bought us FF2 which was $70 for some reason. Then we got Chrono Trigger, and then we rented shitloads of other games, Super Castlevania 4 is probably still my most favorite before they went all Metroid (which I liked also).
