Re: Any advice for starting ToEE?

I just bought this game and I haven't opened it yet, so returning it is viable advice at this point. But, for $10 I don't think I can really lose and Bill's review combined with Gamespot makes me think this game can be fun patched once I get into it. If I should continue playing, what would be the best party to make this as fast and painless as possible? I hated/liked Baldur's Gate 1&2 as I liked the gameplay but didn't understand why it was so cruel with the magic and vampires, etc. Any other tips to make this game more fun by way of it being less tedious? Mr. Kool
This sounds retarded, but you just need to make a fighter (or ranger, or paladin), a thief, a mage, a priest, and maybe a druid. Get Elmo for a second pure fighter, he's the best NPC fighter in the game. Equip your mage with all - and I mean all - the requisite feats for ranged weapons. Ranged weapon attacks don't do jack shit with out them. You're going to be meleeing alot. Keep your party bunched up, because any enemies that try to sidle by to get to the rear of your party will suffer attacks of opportunity. Get used to having your thief do tumbles. Outfit your druid with a spear or something long, so you can stand behind the fighters and still hit stuff.
