It turns out Confused Matthew is bad at reviewing movies.
We all enjoyed his angry reviews of the Star Wars prequels and the Matrix sequels, but after seeing sfdebris and especially RedLetterMedia completely blow him out of the water with funnier jokes and snappier delivery, I can't help but think we would have loved it if ANYONE tore those shitty films apart to the smallest detail, even if delivered in the stilted, nasally, ponderous monotone of CM. Once he was done with those films, watching CM reviews has become an embarassing experience. From his angry multi-part reviews of children's cartoons where he flies off the handle about the craziest things (that cartoon lion cub is self centered! Why did the villian in the Incredibles have to be so mean???) to giving positive reviews of shit-fests like Transformers the movie, his taste in films is proving to be really terrible. Now he's done it. sfdebris did a review of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, a film that was DESPERATELY trying to be 2001 and failed, and correctly pegged it as a movie that was about nothing. So now Confused Matthew is trying to give that exact same review to 2001, brushing off the dawn of man and the subsequent space scene as filler as pointless as ST:TMP's gratuitous 5 minute flyby of the enterprise in dry dock.
