Re: If we get this house it'll be easily forgotten. O_O

But it makes me want to not even bother with short sales if they can just do that, it's like what's the point. They couldn't even make a counter offer of course because we didn't underbid. They may have gotten multiple bids and were like WELL IF THEY'RE BIDDING ON THIS THEN WE CAN MAKE PEOPLE PAY MORE RIGHT? What could possibly go etc? That's why I'd rather just get a bank owned house because it's not like they're doing to do shit like that.
Yes and no. What happened in my case was that we bid the first day it was for sale, and ours was asking + 5 as well, and the bank said "well, we'll see if the other interested buyers want to offer more than what you offered." So that was where our agent was like "okay, can we agree that all offers have to be in with approval from their banks in the next 48 hours?" and the bank said "Ok, as long as they also get approved by Countrywide!" So all of the bidders including us were like "WTF, we have to get approved by Countrywide in the next two business days? I have to work!" but our agent took all of our shit from out other approval and got Countrywide to sign off on it and got it all to the Bank of New York (the lienholder that was selling) within the 2 day window; the other bidders just couldn't get their paperwork in on time, so we got it. But that's the most shenanigans I would expect out of a bank. They want the most money they can get but the main thing they want is to have fewer shitty old houses on their books.
