Holy shit has this argument gone completely off the rails
I'm replying here because this thread is all over the place.
Beating a captive prisoner to death is less repugnant than: - Pouring water on some guys face - making some guy stand naked while you point to his junk
Here is the reason why it is wrong (in reality) to cave in the skull of a defenseless man, regardless of what team he is on, or how evil he is, or how much he deserves it: we are better than them. In the movie, however, it was great. BECAUSE HE IS A NAZI. My impression was that the movie was basically winking, saying "hey, we know that being completely vicious to the other side isn't morally correct, but let's all pretend together that it is for the duration of the movie." Because being able to cheer against the bad guys feels really good deep down. Also, wouldn't it be awesome to have a couple of jews machinegunning down the entire Nazi leadership as they try to escape a burning theater!? And then machinegunning Hitlers face into hamburger!
