Re: Now you hate Myth, too?!!

Odd words coming from someone who'd rather drop hundreds of dollars on crapshoot indy games (the thrift store rack of video games) than a mainstream (ewwww) GAP sellout title.
It has nothing to do with sellout/indie. It has to do with the fact that story FPS, RTS, and MMORPGs are my three least favorite genres of videogames respectively, and those are the only three genres of computer games the mainstream seems to be putting out these days. Indie is the only place I can go for something different. I would fucking love to get my hands on some mainstream shmups, but they're only sold in japan and the only way to get them is to pay exorbitant markups from importers and ebay speculators. Indie it is, then.
I think you might just be bad at strategy games.
I have never pretended that "managing an economy" is anything but a negative for me in a strategy game. Snore. Meanwhile you become automatically hostile the minute a strategy game with any kind of positional terrain tactics rears its ugly head. How does changing projectiles from abstract HP drains to actual physical objects do anything but improve the experience? And weren't you the one bitching that the tactical battles in Total War were too hard?
How many years have I been telling you to get Civ 4 and instead you spring $35 for that obviously awful fantasy advance wars. Quit bitching about Master of Magic not running and download Fall from Heaven 2 already (before we lose respect for you).
I must have hit a nerve because now you're mixing me up with someone else. But to answer your question anyway, my avoidance of sellout mainstream Civ 4 is probably due to the fact that the time I sprung $30 for Civ 3, I got one of the biggest gaming disappointments since Might and Magic 6, but when I sprung $35 ($25, actually) for Land of Legends, I got a fun game that I enjoyed. And while we're on the subject, just how many times on OMM did I tell you NOT to waste your money/time on System Shock 2, but you did it anyway? New Yorkers love a good excuse to bitch.
