I dunno, it always seemed suspect to me. The only advantage is not having derail

That's a serious question. Anyway, biking sucks for exercise I have discovered. I rehabilitated my high school bike and it went from rusty and shitty after 20 years of lying on the damp garage floor, to... Rideable, and pretty cool looking, actually, in a beat up and turquoise way. The goal was to have an option to switch up from running, which I'm getting sick of, especially at my new place which has no good routes that don't involved car exhaust. The downside, I discovered, is that I have to go a million miles and a million miles an hour to get close to the burn of running.
That's great Lance. Biking is more fun than running. Sorry. I can go on a 20 or 30 mile ride every weekend without being the least beat up, and see all kinds of lovely scenery, and still get home in time for my five cake dinner. Preparing for a 26 mile run, however, appears to be quite taxing, and then actually doing it is sufficient to make a dude pee himself. PASS. "Serious" cyclists consider themselves to be badass around the 60 mile @ 18+ mph mark. "A" class cycling, the kind that the best racers at regional clubs will do, starts at sustaining 22 mph on a 40-60 mile ride. If you're doing that shit without hurting, go join a club and make a name for yourself, and I am not even being snide about that. It beats actually working in every possible way.
