I guess playing for money is the same as playing for score
Which gives any marginal blood spewing dick game a free pass (minus the cost of 20th century antique strategy guide).

It was mostly the clunky fuzzy graphics combined with every mech in the game getting a cloaking device making the whole thing feel like Mr. McGoo vs. Predator that turned me off,
Did you not read my review? Did I not say the game had cloaking devices? Geez, just spray the area with an area-effect weapon and the cloak goes down, you big baby.
Every enemy has them, and they last. A long time. Your review didn't mention just how awful the graphics really are, on par with a PS1 Armored Core title. Trying to pick out near invisible predator cloak shimmers from the blurry backgrounds while 2/3rds of the screen is taken up by overlays, targeting, and mech is not a fun time. Area effect weapons can't kill in 2 seconds so they're not an option if you want to keep your SCORE up and pay off your repair bill in under 50 missions. That's really 90% of the whole game right there: wiggling around the camera to move your giant overlays and try to get a clear view of what might have been either a cloaked mech or jagged polygons popping up.

Ridiculously easy to go hopelessly bankrupt right from the start. It takes 6-10 good mission runs to pay off the loss of a single lost match. I can't imagine how you're expected to win with the rentals.
Didn't you read my review? You enter the arena, make as much money as you can until your armor goes critical, then hotfoot it to the exit. You only use rentals to make money, but you can go kamikaze with them since you don't pay repair fees.

If you were good enough to get any kind of kill streak going with the rentals, you wouldn't need to be dicking around with rentals in the first place.
