Re: my actual opinion so everyone else can discard their own

it was an ok movie, but for a star trek reboot it was disappointing a lot of the problems that cloverfield had are in this, as well as way too much lens flare (it's THE FUTURE)
I couldn't help but notice that over and over again, every single scene in the movie had those long blue lens flares across the screen, or yellow, or flashes of reflecting backgrounds or something. It makes you think someone just fired a phaser in the background but no it's just a pointless lens flare, TO BE HIP AND ETC.
but my biggest disappointment was that the characters didn't get enough to do, the movie spent most of the time establishing the peril of creating BLACK HOLES (and they are always called black holes, not singularities or wrom I mean worm holes or collapsed stars or whatever) the "big three" had maybe 5 seconds together :(
Also black holes don't do that, in the movie they're always time travel portals if they're not erasing planets. I don't think that's how black holes work. My expectations for the movie were pretty low though so I was surprised to find it was entertaining, and in a way seemed to care more about being an entertaining crowd pleaser than a lot of the other Star Trek movies. There were some weird pointless things, like Scotty being beamed into the water tank and the ensuing hijinx scene, and the end where Nimoy does the "space the final frontier" thing which he did in Star Trek 2, but in this movie there was like absolutely no exploring of space or strange worlds or new civilizations, it was just a time traveling Romulan in a mining ship and red matter.
