Super Mario Bros. (NES)
Pros: perfect controls, delightful graphics / Cons: "trial & error" castles just not fun
Tetris (GB)
Pros: the long pieces / Cons: the zig-zag pieces
Street Fighter II Turbo (SNES)
Pros: six buttons, twelve characters, not as complicated as it sounds / Cons: CPU can't touch this, hammer time
Windows Solitaire (PC)
Pros: it's sitting right in front of me / Cons: I should be doing something with my life (GED?)
Steel Panthers II (PC)
Pros: armoured combat from 1951 Korea to 1991 Persian Gulf, hexes / Cons: beardy, enjoyed by beardos
Fallout (PC)
Pros: world over, everybody dead, hexes / Cons: sequels retro-actively ruined it
Baldur's Gate (PC)
Pros: AD&D ruleset, miles of wilderness to explore and map / Cons: could have used some hexes
Counter-Strike (PC)
Pros: telling everyone to get in the APC then backing it into a wall / Cons: I think they took that out
Gran Turismo 3 (PS2)
Pros: educational, vaguely pornographic / Cons: scrolling text is hard to read
Grand Theft Auto III (PS2)
Pros: he reaches over and closes the door, oh my god it's like the holodeck / Cons: stubbornly linear missions |
