Sacrifice is the scissors-paper-rockinest game of all time, but that doesn't mean it doesn't kick boulder-throwing, magma-spewing ass.
I'll say it again for him more slowly: rock/paper/scissors turns it into a clickfest where you just respond to whatever your enemy is throwing at you with the correct rock, paper, and/scissor. There's no tactics involved it's just a huge clicky-clicky-Korean-tricky fucking clickfest. BUILD BUILD BUILD BUILD OK GO ATTACK THE CENTER.
Over and over again on and on. TANK RUSH! ANTI-TANK CLICKING! ANTI-ANTI-TANK CLICKING! TANK RUSH!
IT NEVER FUCKING STOPS AND THERE IS NO STRATEGY LEFT IN A GENRE WHOSE NAME ENDS IN 'STRATEGY'
What the FUCK is wrong with this picture, Forrest?
Total Annihilation had actual strategy. Total War has, due to elevation and morale in the battles, a small measure of strategy. C&C 1 HAD STRATEGY - the bases were powerful enough to take nearly anything when properly setup and the trick was to use one of a dozen different gambits to sneak through or break down the defenses. Mass tank rush? Engineers in an APC? Tank rush the SAMS and chopper in the engies?
The possibilities were AWESOME and you time to think it out, and it wasn't terribly rock-paper-scissors. There was no cure whatsoever for the mammoth tank.
Myth had tons of strategy thanks to the dwarves.
There is a serious fucking mental illness either in developers or in gamers that all they really want & make is clicky-clicky-Korean-tricky. Or Progres^H^H^H^H Everquest. Somewhere something huge went wrong and it needs to be fixed. GTA3? Part of the cure for this fucking bullshit narrative-on-rails FPS 'gaming' we have today. Morrowind? Same.
Fuck publishers, fuck developers, and FUCK YOU ALL, GAMERS for buying into this pandering bullshit that's flying off the fucking shelves these days. I swear to God I will kill you all.

First of all, as FoK has pointed out, iterated rock/paper/scissors isn't nearly as trivial as it's cracked up to be. Ask the tiltboys or the guy that programmed Iocaine Powder. If you're looking for a game to signify trivial I suggest you use Tic Tac Toe which, as even Matthew Broderick knows, is just fucking broken.
But I love how "Korean" has become shorthand for "mindless" in the context of real-time strategy. Interesting that I've never heard anyone complain about "mindless" Koreans being too easy to beat. No, somehow their trivial, predictable, repetitive, so-simple-a-monkey-could-do-it strategies have magically "broken" the game is such a way that occidental crybabies all over the world are no longer capable of playing it. Not because they couldn't if they wanted to, oh no. It's because the game is no longer fun. Yeah, well guess what? Playing tennis against Pete Sampras is also not going to be fun. Because while you're modelling shins Pete Sampras is hitting balls, while you're arguing politics Sampras is hitting balls, while you're sleeping late he's hitting balls, while you're idly picking at a piece of dead skin on the back of your neck and wondering what to have for dinner he's on the fucking tennis court hitting goddamn balls. This is how you get good at a fucking game in case you haven't noticed - you figure out what you have to do to win and you do it.
Any game played at a high enough level is going to be boring to a patzer, which is what these whining douchebags are. Boo hoo! He beat me by hitting the ball to a place I can't reach over and over again. How is that fun? Maybe if you could figure out how to return a fucking serve the game wouldn't appear to be so "broken". Hitting the ball hard isn't the point of tennis, it's the point at which tennis begins. If you're playing someone who can hit hard then being able to hit hard is the entry fee you have to muster before the actual game, the deep game, the interesting high-level game even starts. In an RTS, clicking fast and knowing what beats what is the exact same thing.
Jesus, who complains about clicking in a computer game for godsake? Do you complain about button pushing in Virtual Fighter? Aw, he just pushed the buttons faster than me. Yeah, well sort of, I guess. Awww, he knows the combos, he knocked me down and took the football, he memorized the dictionary, he studied openings, he bet more than I could afford, he practiced, he worked, he won.
Let me let all you rts-dilettante, Korean-hating motherfuckers in on a little secret: you weren't out-clicked, you were out-played. You don't have to like it, but please shut up about it.
