There are some people who, no matter how much you simplified something, they'd have something to complain about, either that it was too hard to use, or, conversely, it was too simple.
I dare suspect that there are people who would complain they have too many choices to make when using a light switch!
But you can make some things too easy. A manufacturer of a complete cake mix back in the 1970s had a fairly good product, but it wasn't selling that well. Turns out they'd made it too easy, women felt it had taken all the decision making out of making a cake. The company changed the formula to take the powdered egg out, so that housewives now had to add an egg to complete the recipe. Sales of the product skyrocketed because now the consumer had something to do to make the cake, e.g. cracking an egg, and not merely just adding water. |
