I'm only a few missions in, but here's what I like:
* Your health regenerates, but taking damage also reduces your MAX health. So, you take damage down to 30% health and you will only regenerate back to 90%. Then you take damage down to 40% and regen back to 80%. You have to eat or rest to get your max health back to full.
* The atmosphere is a gameplay element in itself.
* The dialogue and stuff is really great? I enjoy the cutscenes and there's a lot of flavor dialogue. Also, the plot is extremely realistic. You still kill a hundred people and outrun cops every day, which isn't realistic, but your character's motivations and the chain of events that drive the story are pretty good. I especially like how you do a mission to steal X dollars and your reward is X-Y. Like, it's made clear that you are only getting a piece of every job even though you are the one doing the work. Also the jobs are in keeping with the times. You run union scams and fence goods and stuff. No solid gold helicopters firing dildos at PETA or other zany shit.
Cons:
At the beginning you have the chance to do a tedious, honest job for low pay. You are hauling a bunch of boxes from point A to point B. I wanted to see what happened if I hauled all the boxes but the game cuts you off after about 4. |
